Usually phodis/fries are made with this vegetable and I have not yet come across any recipe which features Phagile.Whenever we are in Blr,father-in-law makes sure he gets phagile since its an all time favorite for everyone in the family.
Recipe Marathon - Day 5
Phagilo – 10-12,sliced into thin pieces
Chilly powder – 3-4 tbsp
Hing/asafetida – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Rice flour – as required(to dip)
Oil for frying
Make a paste of chilly powder,hing and salt.
Apply it to the sliced phagilo and keep aside. Add oil to a kadai and while it heats up,dip each of the slices in rice flour and deep fry the slices till brown on both sides.
Serve hot as an accompaniment with rice.
