Puran Poli-Ubbatti-Boli ~ Step by Step Recipe

Sweets make me weak..I mean,go weak on the knees.;-)I really don't know how I survived without it for 5 months now.All hell broke loose when we went to Bangalore, literally. All of them felt, enough of the diet and asked me to have at least "a little bit" or they will not feel good about eating it!!Ahem ahem,to say I was tempted would be putting it lightly.I badly wanted someone to force me to eat something so that I could be devoid of all the guilt!!And once I started eating 'little bits",it became one too many and there was no stopping me.One week and I put on 1 kg,I guess that says it all!!But it was all worth it..!!

Puran poli-Ubbatti-Boli is something which my ma-in-law prepared for us.It was yum yum yummy. We made it together,ok my contribution was-taking pics, while my ma-in-law and vanni prepared it.It is supposed to be had with ghee smeared all over, but we preferred having it plain.Though I have to admit I had one with ghee;-)It is upto you whether to have it plain or with ghee,it will taste yummier whichever way you eat it!!

Peanut masala for Monthly Mingle

When I saw this month's theme for Monthly mingle,I immediately knew what to post.Peanut/Groundnut masala..ideal as a starter and healthier too.Unlike those fried starters, these peanuts would not send you on a guilt trip..!!I have always loved peanuts, plain -salted.Hunger pangs?Have a handful of peanuts and you are done. The fact that these can be easily made in a microwave in minutes makes you want it more!!My vanni and ma-in-law planned to include this is in the menu for the get together party at home,in Bangalore. But the party started quite late and this was not served. It seems, this dish is also called 'Raja masala",have no clue why its so called though.

Our cousin's wife,Vinny took us to her father's restaurant Unicorn[Infantry road,Bangalore] for a family lunch. She suggested I order this, since everyone else were having non-veg starters. It was absolutely yummy and I just couldn't stop having it.When I asked for the recipe,I realized it was the simplest of all..decided to try it the moment I landed back in Chennai. It came out well,as good as the restaurant one and I am so happy about that!!Do try it as a healthy and guilt free starter!!!

Pomegranate salad

Dalimba/Pomegranate salad was an innovative dish my ma-in-law prepared when we were in Bangalore few days back.We had a family/cousins get together and as usual she came up with this lovely salad which made everyone ask for more. All of us had a great time and I miss those days sitting here in Chennai!!!My bro-in-law,vanni and their kiddo have gone back to Botswana.Today morning I was surprised to get an sms from my ma-in-law.She said she is learning to send sms and that she missed all of us badly..

Coming back to the salad, its not something too different in taste as compared to the normal salad, but the inclusion of pomos gives it a unique taste. When you eat the salad, the taste buds are tickled with the sweetish taste of pomos here and there.Yummy and healthy too.Do try it out for a change from the normal cucumber-onion-tomato salad!
